There are some people who enjoy the art and adventure of ‘blending’ essential oils. Creating your own oils is truly a scientific art which usually requires a little bit of training and much experimentation. If you choose to create your own blends, it is important to understand the order in which oils are blended. This is key to maintaining the desired therapeutic properties in a blend. To make easy, efficient, and effective use of blended oils, purchase essential oil blends specially formulated by someone who understands the chemical constituents of each oil and which oils blend well together.
You can still satisfy your essential oil “blender itch” by using single and blended oils to create your own lotions, face products, salves, and roller balls. Roller balls are easily made by putting 3-6 drops of your favorite essential oil into a 10 ml glass roller ball. Top the roller ball with fractionated coconut oil leaving enough room for the roller. Apply your newly created roller ball to vita flex points on feet, hands, back of neck making sure to slowly inhale the sent left on your hands after you gently message the oil in if you want. How to apply oils: topically, aromatically, and internally
Oils purchased from Young Living come with suggestions for application which is a huge help as there are numerous ways to use them. I rely on the scientific experts every day!
Apply oil directly to the area of concern using 1-6 drops of oil. Typically 1-3 drops is adequate. You never need more than the recommended 1-6 drops per application. Some oils are ‘warmer’ than others. You can always add a carrier oil such as fractionated coconut oil or organic olive oil if you have sensitive skin. NEVER rinse off essential oils with water. This just pushes the oil into your pores. Rub the area with carrier oil. Refer to the guidance of the experts or email me anytime as I would be happy to help.
Apply to Vita Flex contact points on your feet and hands, and your ears (Auricular Therapy). As a matter of fact, your feet provide the fast absorption due to the large pores located in your feet!
Massage into large areas of your body by diluting the essential oil with a carrier oil by 15% to 30%. Young Living sells V-6 oils to ease the diluting process.
Essential oils can be used with infants and children; however, caution must be exercised. ALWAYS dilute the oils with a carrier oil. Young Living has a specially formulated children’s line.
- Infants (birth to 2yo) – mix 1-3 drops oil in at least 1 tablespoon of carrier oil. (fractionated coconut oil, organic olive oil)
- Children (2yo to 5yo) – mix 1-3 drops of oil in at least 1 teaspoon of carrier oil
Layering oils is much preferred to over mixing your own blends until you are comfortable with the science of blending oils. This is accomplished by applying one one, followed by another, then another. You do not have to wait more than a few seconds between each oil as they absorb quickly. The layering technique is not only useful in physical health but also when doing emotional clearing.
DO NOT MIX Blended oils. Blended oils created by Young Living specially formulated by someone who understands the chemical constituents of each oil and which oils blend well. Therefore, do not mix commercially created blends.
Use a diffuser – this is the easiest and simplest way of putting oils into the air for inhalation.
- Cold air diffusers uses room temperature air to blow the oil up against a nebulizer. This breaks the oils up into micro-fine mist that is dispersed into the air, covering hundreds of feet in seconds. Because the oils are oxygenated, they hang in the air for several hours. You do not want to use a diffuser that uses a heat source such as a light ring as this alters the makeup of the oil and its therapeutic qualities.
Use a cloth or tissue – put 1-3 drops of essential oil on a paper towel, tissue, cotton ball, towel, or pillow case. Hold it close to your face and inhale.
Place a cotton ball with 1-3 drops of essential oil in your car, trashcan, or any other small area you want to treat.
Bathtime – Begin by adding 3-6 drops of oil to bathwater while the tub is filling. Because the oils will separate as the water calms down, your skin will quickly draw the oils from the top of the water. Most oil users feel 6 drops is the most you should use in your bath at one time.
Dishwashers, clothes washers, and dryers – add your favorite oil such as Lemon or Purification to will kill bacteria and germs.
Using Lemon or another citrus oil will take gum out of clothes and help to remove sticky labels.
